The dark winter months are a fantastic time of year to visit, if you truly wish to experience Slettestrand in Storm and Stillness. The harsh winter weather on the west coast has long since washed away all traces of the summer tourists, and the peacefulness now stands in stark contrast with the storming sea. All that remains is the west coast's wilderness and the few people who have realised, that the winter offers at least as many wonderful nature experiences as the other seasons.
A Winter hibernation stay in Slettestrand includes:
- Accommodation in a holiday apartment or cottage at special winter rates
- Access to the Havbadehus with warm-water pool and sauna within the winter opening hours
- Free access to the fitness room, the large outdoor playground and the activity yard with fire pit etc.
- Option to rent mountainbikes, book mountainbike technique lessons and guided tours.
- The wind in your hair, rosy cheeks and the wide open sky
At Feriecenter Slettestrand, we make the most of the quiet winter months to maintain and renew, develop, improve and prepare for the new season. Our holiday apartments and cottages can be rented on a selv-catering basis throughout the winter. All our holiday rental units come with a fully-equipped kitchen, heating and good WiFi. Linen packages with bedding and towels can be rented if required.
In the Havbadehus you can enjoy the lovely warm-water pool and spacious sauna, both of which offer views over the dunes towards the beach and the North Sea. You also have free access to the large outdoor playground, the activity yard with fire pit, the fitness room and indoor table tennis. You can rent a mountainbike and go for a ride on the cool trails in Svinkløv Plantation, and if you want a guided tour (on a bike or on foot) or a technique lesson then that is also possible, providing our guides and instructors aren't pre-booked by another party.
The nature is, of course, always open, and remember: with the right clothing, there's no such thing as "bad weather"...

All prices are per holiday apartment/cottage per night including end-of-stay cleaning, pre-paid electricity and access to the Havbadehus, providing it is open.

What to expect when you come on a Winter Hibernation stay in Slettestrand...
What is open? Holiday accommodation rentals and mountainbike rental. Check our activity programme for any scheduled activities, that may be available during your stay. We may also be able to arrange guided tours, mountainbike lessons etc. – please enquire prior to arrival. The Havbadehuset is open most of the winter with reduced opening hours. There are, however, a few days, where it will be closed – check Havbadehuset's opening hours here.
What is closed? The kitchen, restaurant and the rest of the main building. Reception is essentially unmanned, but we will, of course, ensure that there are staff on-site to welcome you to Slettestrand, and that you are able to get in touch with us during your stay.
Group bookings, meetings etc. for a minimum 1½ days are welcome to contact us and enquire into the possibility of coming during the winter months.
